Corktown development and revitalizing and transformation:

$6 million remake of Roosevelt park: When completed in spring 2023, the currently 9.5-acre park will grow to 13 acres after the road removal and reconfiguration. It also will include a promenade connecting Michigan Avenue to The Station, a new pedestrian gateway entrance at Michigan Avenue, key neighborhood entryways and walkways, plaza spaces, event lawns, benches and tables for seating and landscaping. The newly-unified park will serve as an amenity, not only for southwest Detroit residents but also for the 5,000 workers who will be employed at Michigan Central.

Basco detroit: Situated in the heart of Corktown, the Michigan Avenue project involves repurposing the 20,000 square feet Spaulding Building and a ground-up development on adjacent vacant land. This project is in the shadows of Ford Company’s new mobility center anchored by the rehabilitation of the historic Michigan Central Station.

Godfrey hotel: The Godfrey Hotel Detroit in historic Corktown will open with 227 rooms, the city's largest rooftop lounge, and hire up to 200 people.

bargain block: Partners Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas want to be part of restoring the iconic American city of Detroit. The scrappy visionaries buy run-down and abandoned properties and transform them into affordable, stylish starter homes for first-time homebuyers.

a little history lesson:

Corktown is the oldest existing neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan, though it is only half as old as the city itself. In the 1820s and 30s, with the opening of the Erie Canal and the decreased cost of steamboat travel on the Great Lakes, immigrants began arriving in Detroit in significant numbers and settling downtown.
